Tulip poplar is among the tallest of all Eastern United States broadleaf trees, easily reaching heights of 70-90’, and commonly nearing 150’ at maturity. Features include 2-3” tulip-shaped, fragrant flowers in late spring, followed by showy, cone-shaped fruit that persists into winter and golden yellow fall foliage. Attracts hummingbirds, birds, and squirrels, and is a host plant for tiger and spicebush swallowtail butterflies. This fast grower prefers sites with moist, well-drained soil in full sun.
