Educator Workshops, Classes & Trainings

Upcoming Educator Workshops/Classes:

Wading Thru Watersheds Teacher Workshop

Let’s learn about watersheds! This hybrid Teacher Workshop takes us (via ZOOM) from the classroom to the field as we Wade Thru Watersheds to discover what they are and why they are important. From biological communities to the ways our actions impact the health of our local waterways, participants will dive into content through hands-on investigations and scientific field techniques. Featuring interdisciplinary lessons/learning activities, participants will explore the ways science, art, literacy, math and technology can be integrated to connect classroom content to our local community and environment.

Guest presenters for this workshop include:

Jessica Fries-Gaither, Director of Studies, & Lower School Science Teacher at Columbus School for Girls; Author Notable Notebooks: Scientists and Their Writings & Exemplary Evidence: Scientists and Their Data

Chris Yoder, Research Director at Midwest Biodiversity Institute

Marc Kibbey & Nate Shoobs, Museum of Biological Diversity, The Ohio State University

Kurt Keljo, Former Watershed Resource Specialist at Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District

Please note: This workshop will include both virtual and in-person learning opportunities. Participants should be prepared for outdoor conditions, wading into water and moderate physical activity.  For those that are not able to participate in the field experiences, accommodations will be made for virtual access to the presented content.  (Schedule subject to change depending on the current status of COVID-19).

The registration fee includes all workshop materials. Participants will have the opportunity to pick-up their workshop materials from Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District’s office prior to the start of the workshop.  Additional details will be provided once registered.
