Employees of soil and water conservation districts are part of a nationwide family. In some states, the districts encompass multiple counties or are known as water conservation districts or simply as conservation districts. But we all work closely with local landowners who voluntarily install best management practices to conserve, protect and preserve precious natural resources. If you would like to join this conservation family, click on “Employment Opportunities” in the box to the right.
Franklin Soil and Water sometimes needs volunteers to help with tree planting, invasives removal or a stream clean-up. These volunteer opportunities are usually child-friendly with tasks that have a range of difficulty. We ask you to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and weather appropriate outer-wear. You will also need to sign a waiver for you and your child. We provide water and snacks and lots of fun! Any current volunteer opportunities will be listed under “Volunteer Opportunities” in the box above.
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has volunteer opportunities through their Earth Team program. Tor read more about this volunteer program, click on “Volunteer Opportunities” in the box above.
