Conservation Stewardship Fund Competition

Although our goal with our joint annual meeting is to show support between all the Soil and Water District's in Ohio, we're having a little friendly competition between ourselves, Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District and Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District regarding our fundraising efforts for conservation practices and we need your help!

Please consider a donation to our Franklin Soil and Water Conservation Stewardship Fund so that we can come out on top. Not only will we get some bragging rights, but more importantly, all proceeds will in return be used for conservation projects right here in Franklin County!

Additional details and donation links for the Conservation Stewardship Fund can be found through our website: www.franklinswcd.org/conservation-fund

Join in The Big Give!

With a pandemic threating our public and economic health, protests raising awareness of racism and the need for change, and climate change influencing record rainfalls in March and May, investing in our communities and in conservation is urgently needed. Long term funding sources for projects and programs is needed to protect our water resources at the local, state, federal and private levels. Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District has joined that initiative by creating our Conservation Stewardship Fund through the Columbus Foundation to support the initiative of Community + Conservation in Franklin County.

In the spirit of supporting Community + Conservation, Franklin Soil and Water is participating in the Big Give on Wednesday June 10th with The Columbus Foundation with the goal of raising $15,000 to help fund conservation projects across Franklin County. We are asking businesses or individuals to consider a donation of $250 - $1000 to support the Conservation Stewardship Fund. Other donation amounts will of course be enthusiastically appreciated.

Please visit our Columbus Foundation Conservation Stewardship Fund page on June 10th starting at 10:00 a.m. ET,  https://columbusfoundation.org/the-giving-store/nonprofit-directory-listing/FranklinSoilandWaterConservationStewardshipFund/15034 to make your donation. Stormwater Awareness Week - October 7th-13th, 2018

We want Stormwater Week to be a regional effort that encourages communities (and the groups that care about them) to raise stormwater awareness via newsletters and social media posts, or with fun and educational events.

Example actions/events might include (but are definitely not limited to):
  • Community or Neighborhood Clean-Ups (litter, streams, stormwater ponds, etc)
  • Native Tree & Plant Installations
  • Rain Garden Construction and/or Maintenance Activities
  • Educational Workshops or Tours (residents/businesses/contractors)
  • Newsletter Articles & Social Media Posts
  • Press Releases
  • Adoption of Community Stormwater Resolutions (see our example here)
Anyone can participate in Stormwater Week (municipalities, townships, schools, watershed groups, and more!).  If you help administer your communities MS4 program, this event will also help meet your requirements for MCM 1 & MCM 2.

Schedule your events now and let us know what you are planning to do, so we can promote it here and through our social media accounts.

Need ideas or have questions? Just send us a message.
